Rimifon

Rimifon (Isoniazid) is a primary bactericidal antimycobacterial drug used as a cornerstone of tuberculosis therapy. It selectively inhibits the synthesis of mycolic acids, which are essential components of the mycobacterial cell wall. It is highly effective against actively replicating Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage must be customized based on whether it is used for treatment or prophylaxis, and is typically calculated by body weight. For active TB, it is always used in combination with other drugs to prevent resistance. Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) supplementation is often recommended alongside Rimifon to prevent peripheral neuropathy, especially in nutritional deficiency, pregnancy, or diabetes.
