Recovorin

Recovorin contains Leucovorin Calcium, which is a 5-formyl derivative of tetrahydrofolic acid. It is an active metabolite of folic acid and an essential coenzyme for nucleic acid synthesis in cytotoxic therapy. It is primarily used as a rescue agent after high-dose methotrexate therapy to protect healthy cells, and in combination with 5-fluorouracil to treat colorectal cancer.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage must be strictly individualized based on the patient's clinical status, body surface area, and plasma methotrexate levels. For methotrexate rescue, administration typically begins 24 hours after the start of methotrexate infusion. Always follow the specific protocol prescribed by an oncologist.
