Rapamune

Rapamune (sirolimus) is an immunosuppressive agent. It works by inhibiting T-lymphocyte activation and proliferation that occurs in response to antigenic and cytokine stimulation. It is used to prevent transplant rejection and to treat lymphangioleiomyomatosis, a rare progressive lung disease.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage must be individualized under the supervision of a transplant specialist. Routine monitoring of sirolimus whole blood trough concentrations is highly recommended. For renal transplant patients aged 13 or older weighing less than 50 kg, dosing is calculated using Body Surface Area (BSA). It should be taken consistently either with or without food.
