Racotil

Racotil contains Racecadotril, an oral enkephalinase inhibitor with antisecretory activity. It works by reducing the hypersecretion of water and electrolytes in the intestinal lumen, thereby reducing the severity and duration of diarrhea without altering basal secretion or slowing intestinal transit time.

Dosage by Body Weight

The standard dose is determined by body weight in children (1.5 mg/kg per dose) and is 100 mg per dose for adults, taken three times daily. It should be administered in combination with oral rehydration therapy. Treatment should be continued until two normal stools are recorded, up to a maximum of 7 days.
