Pmq Ingelheim
Pmq (Primaquine) is an 8-aminoquinoline antimalarial agent. It targets the latent tissue stages (hypnozoites) of P. vivax and P. ovale in the liver, preventing disease relapse. It also destroys P. falciparum gametocytes, helping to block the transmission of malaria. Due to the risk of life-threatening hemolytic anemia, patients must be tested for Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency before starting this medication.
Dosage by Body Weight
Dosage must be strictly supervised and determined by a healthcare provider. G6PD status must be confirmed normal before administration. Always administer with meals to minimize gastrointestinal distress.
