Chloroquine

An aminoquinoline that interferes with the parasite's ability to break down hemoglobin. Its use is limited in many areas due to widespread resistance.

Dosage by Body Weight

Prophylaxis: 5 mg base/kg once weekly. Treatment: 10 mg base/kg followed by 5 mg base/kg at 6, 24, and 48 hours.
