Lamotrigine

Works by inhibiting voltage-sensitive sodium channels. Requires a very slow 'start low, go slow' titration to prevent severe rashes (Stevens-Johnson Syndrome).

Dosage by Body Weight

Initial dose is usually 0.15 mg/kg once daily for 2 weeks, then increased. Dosage depends on whether the child is also taking valproate.
