Genticyn

Genticyn contains Gentamicin, a potent aminoglycoside antibiotic. It acts by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and causing bacterial cell death. It is highly active against aerobic gram-negative bacteria and some gram-positive organisms.

Dosage by Body Weight

For ophthalmic/otic use, typically 1 to 2 drops are instilled into the affected eye or ear every 4 hours. For systemic injection, dosing must be strictly individualized by a healthcare professional based on body weight, renal function, and serum gentamicin levels to prevent ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity.
