Genoptic

Genoptic is a sterile topical ophthalmic antibiotic containing gentamicin sulfate, an aminoglycoside. It is prescribed to treat external bacterial eye infections by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis in susceptible organisms.

Dosage by Body Weight

Ophthalmic Solution: Instill 1 to 2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) every 4 hours. For severe infections, the dosage may be increased to 2 drops once every hour. Ophthalmic Ointment: Apply a thin strip (approx. 1/2 inch) to the affected eye(s) 2 to 3 times daily.
