Ethambutol Hydrochloride

Ethambutol Hydrochloride is an oral bacteriostatic antimycobacterial agent. It is specifically active against actively growing mycobacteria of the genus Mycobacterium, including M. tuberculosis. It functions by inhibiting the synthesis of arabinogalactan, an essential component of the mycobacterial cell wall.

Dosage by Body Weight

Administered orally once every 24 hours. The standard dose is calculated based on body weight, typically ranging from 15 mg/kg to 25 mg/kg per day. Frequent assessment of visual acuity and color discrimination is highly recommended during therapy.
