Ecalta
Ecalta contains anidulafungin, an echinocandin antifungal agent. It targets fungal cell wall synthesis, specifically inhibiting 1,3-beta-D-glucan synthase, leading to cell lysis and death of the fungus. It is administered intravenously as an infusion.
Dosage by Body Weight
Adults: 200 mg loading dose on Day 1, followed by 100 mg daily. Pediatric patients (1 month to <18 years): Loading dose of 3.0 mg/kg (max 200 mg) on Day 1, then a maintenance dose of 1.5 mg/kg (max 100 mg) once daily. Treatment should continue for at least 14 days after the last positive culture.
