Caffeine stimulates the respiratory center in the brain, increases the sensitivity to carbon dioxide, and strengthens the contraction of the diaphragm.

Dosage by Body Weight

Used strictly in Neonatal ICU settings. Loading dose is 20 mg/kg, followed by maintenance of 5-10 mg/kg.
