Blocadren

Blocadren is a brand name for oral timolol maleate, a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker (beta-blocker). It works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in the body, such as epinephrine, on the heart and blood vessels. This effect lowers the heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart, and helps prevent migraines.

Dosage by Body Weight

The standard adult dose for hypertension starts at 10 mg twice daily, which may be increased. For migraine prevention, the typical dose is 10 mg to 20 mg daily. This medication is a prescription drug and dosage must be individualized by a healthcare professional. It is not routinely prescribed to pediatric patients.
