Arteether

Arteether (also known as artether) is a rapid-acting blood schizonticide and a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin. It is specifically formulated as an injectable antimalarial drug indicated for the treatment of severe malaria, including cerebral malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. It operates by releasing free radicals within the parasite's food vacuole, leading to lipid peroxidation and cellular damage.

Dosage by Body Weight

Administered strictly via deep intramuscular injection. The typical adult dosage is 150 mg once daily for 3 consecutive days. For pediatric cases, it is calculated based on body weight, usually 3 mg/kg once daily for 3 days.
