Amphotec

Amphotec is an antifungal agent consisting of a 1:1 molar ratio complex of amphotericin B and sodium cholesteryl sulfate. It is formulated as a sterile, pyrogen-free lyophilized powder for reconstitution and intravenous infusion.

Dosage by Body Weight

The recommended dose for adults and pediatric patients is 3 to 4 mg/kg/day, administered by intravenous infusion at a rate of 1 mg/kg/hour. Reconstitute only with Sterile Water for Injection, and dilute only with 5% Dextrose Injection.

Purpose

Treatment of invasive aspergillosis in patients where renal toxicity or anemia precludes the use of amphotericin B deoxycholate in effective doses, or in patients who have failed amphotericin B deoxycholate therapy.
