Ambisome

Ambisome is a liposomal formulation of Amphotericin B, a broad-spectrum antifungal antibiotic. The liposomal encapsulation alters the drug's pharmacokinetics, allowing for higher drug concentrations in infected tissues while significantly lowering the risk of renal toxicity compared to conventional amphotericin B deoxycholate.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage must be individualized based on body weight, severity of infection, and patient tolerance. Typically administered via intravenous infusion over 120 minutes. Ambisome must be reconstituted with Sterile Water for Injection and diluted only with 5% Dextrose Injection (D5W) to a concentration of 1.0 mg/mL to 2.0 mg/mL.
