Nesiritide

Nesiritide is a sterile, purified recombinant human B-type natriuretic peptide (hBNP) obtained from Escherichia coli. It facilitates cardiovascular homeostasis by binding to particulate guanylyl cyclase receptors in vascular smooth muscle and endothelial cells, leading to increased cGMP, smooth muscle relaxation, and vasodilation (both venous and arterial).

Dosage by Body Weight

Administered exclusively via the intravenous route under strict clinical monitoring. The standard adult dose begins with an IV bolus of 2 mcg/kg, followed immediately by a continuous IV infusion of 0.01 mcg/kg/min. Do not initiate at a higher dose.
