Fluconazole Oral Suspension
Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal medication. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and stopping the growth of the fungi. It is well-absorbed and can be taken with or without food.
Dosage by Body Weight
Pediatric dosing is based on body weight and typically ranges from 3 mg/kg to 12 mg/kg once daily, depending on the type and severity of the infection. A double loading dose is sometimes given on the first day. Always shake the suspension well before use and measure with a precise dosing syringe.
