Uceris

Uceris contains budesonide, a synthetic corticosteroid with strong local anti-inflammatory activity but low systemic availability due to extensive first-pass metabolism. The extended-release tablets utilize multi-matrix (MMX) technology to delay release until reaching the colon, targeting the inflammation directly.

Dosage by Body Weight

For adults with active mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, the recommended oral dosage is one 9 mg tablet daily in the morning for up to 8 weeks. Tablets must be swallowed whole and not chewed, crushed, or broken. For Uceris rectal foam, the recommended dosage is 1 administration (2 mg) twice daily for 2 weeks, followed by 1 administration once daily for 4 weeks.
