Tridil
Tridil is an intravenous formulation of nitroglycerin, a rapid-acting organic nitrate vasodilator. It works by relaxing systemic vascular smooth muscle, predominantly reducing venous tone and myocardial oxygen demand, while also dilating coronary arteries to improve collateral blood flow.
Dosage by Body Weight
Strictly for intravenous use under continuous clinical monitoring. Dosage is highly individualized and must be titrated continuously based on the patient's hemodynamic response (blood pressure, heart rate, and clinical symptoms). Typically initiated at 5 mcg/min and increased in increments of 5 mcg/min every 3-5 minutes until the desired clinical effect is achieved.
- Body Weight
- Below 5 kg
- Dose
- 0.1 to 5 mcg/kg/min
- Frequency
- Continuous intravenous infusion
- Tracking Notes
- Strictly for neonatal/infant intensive care settings. Continuous intra-arterial blood pressure monitoring is highly recommended.
- Body Weight
- 5-7 kg
- Dose
- 0.1 to 5 mcg/kg/min
- Frequency
- Continuous intravenous infusion
- Tracking Notes
- Titrate slowly to target hemodynamics. Must use a controlled infusion pump.
- Body Weight
- 8-10 kg
- Dose
- 0.1 to 5 mcg/kg/min
- Frequency
- Continuous intravenous infusion
- Tracking Notes
- Monitor closely for hypotension and tachycardia. Ensure adequate intravascular volume.
- Body Weight
- 11-15 kg
- Dose
- 0.1 to 5 mcg/kg/min
- Frequency
- Continuous intravenous infusion
- Tracking Notes
- Dosage titration must be guided by invasive hemodynamic parameters where available.
- Body Weight
- 16-20 kg
- Dose
- 0.1 to 5 mcg/kg/min
- Frequency
- Continuous intravenous infusion
- Tracking Notes
- Do not discontinue abruptly; taper gradually to prevent rebound hypertensive crisis.
