Nitronal

Nitronal is a sterile, concentrated solution of glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerin) intended for intravenous administration after dilution. It acts as a potent vasodilator, primarily affecting venous vessels, which reduces cardiac preload and afterload, decreasing myocardial oxygen demand.

Dosage by Body Weight

Nitronal must be administered via intravenous infusion only, diluted in a compatible fluid, and carefully titrated based on the patient's individual clinical response, blood pressure, and heart rate. Typically started at a rate of 10 to 200 micrograms/minute.

  1. Body Weight
    Below 5 kg
    Dose
    Requires specialist ICU titration
    Frequency
    Continuous infusion
    Tracking Notes
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established; use only under expert neonatal/pediatric intensive care supervision.
  2. Body Weight
    5-7 kg
    Dose
    Requires specialist ICU titration
    Frequency
    Continuous infusion
    Tracking Notes
Dosing must be strictly supervised in an ICU setting, titrated carefully to hemodynamics.
  3. Body Weight
    8-10 kg
    Dose
    Requires specialist ICU titration
    Frequency
    Continuous infusion
    Tracking Notes
Dosage is titrated based on blood pressure and heart rate response.
  4. Body Weight
    11-15 kg
    Dose
    Requires specialist ICU titration
    Frequency
    Continuous infusion
    Tracking Notes
Continuous hemodynamic monitoring is mandatory during administration.
  5. Body Weight
    16-20 kg
    Dose
    Requires specialist ICU titration
    Frequency
    Continuous infusion
    Tracking Notes
Adjust infusion rate gradually to achieve the desired therapeutic effect without severe hypotension.
