Terbina

Terbina is an allylamine antifungal medication. It works by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, which is essential for fungal cell membrane synthesis. This leads to a deficiency of ergosterol and an accumulation of squalene inside the fungal cell, causing cell death.

Dosage by Body Weight

For adults, the standard oral dosage is 250 mg once daily. The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the infection (typically 2 to 6 weeks for skin infections, and 6 to 12 weeks for nail infections). In children, oral terbinafine is primarily prescribed for tinea capitis (scalp ringworm) for patients aged 2 years and older, with the dose determined by body weight.
