Simdax

Simdax contains levosimendan, a calcium sensitizer and potassium channel opener. It increases cardiac contractility by binding to cardiac troponin C in a calcium-dependent manner, and induces vasodilation by opening ATP-sensitive potassium channels in vascular smooth muscle. This dual mechanism increases cardiac output and reduces both preload and afterload without significantly increasing myocardial oxygen consumption.
