Selektine
Selektine is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (commonly known as a 'statin'). It works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that is responsible for producing cholesterol. This reduction in cholesterol levels helps prevent the buildup of plaque in the arteries, thereby decreasing the risk of cardiovascular events.
Dosage by Body Weight
The usual starting dose for adults is 10 mg to 40 mg taken orally once daily, preferably in the evening. It can be taken with or without food. Dosage may be adjusted by a healthcare provider based on cholesterol levels and patient response.
