Lipostat

Lipostat contains pravastatin sodium, which belongs to a group of medicines called statins (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors). It works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that is needed to make cholesterol, thereby lowering 'bad' cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides and raising 'good' cholesterol (HDL).

Dosage by Body Weight

The usual starting dose is 10 mg to 40 mg once daily, preferably in the evening, with or without food. Dosage should be individualized and adjusted according to the patient's response and therapeutic goals, usually at intervals of 4 weeks or more.
