Sandostatin LAR Depot

Sandostatin LAR is a long-acting release formulation of octreotide, an octapeptide analog of naturally occurring somatostatin. It exerts similar pharmacologic actions but is a much more potent inhibitor of growth hormone, glucagon, insulin, and various gastroenteropancreatic endocrine secretions.

Dosage by Body Weight

Administered exclusively by a healthcare professional as a deep intragluteal injection at 4-week intervals. Recommended starting dose is 20 mg every 4 weeks for 3 months, after which the dose may be adjusted (ranging from 10 mg to 30 mg, up to a maximum of 40 mg) based on clinical response and biochemical markers.
