Plasmotrim

Plasmotrim contains Artesunate, a water-soluble artemisinin derivative. It is a highly potent antimalarial drug that rapidly clears malaria parasites from the bloodstream. It is primarily utilized in the critical management of severe malaria cases, often administered intravenously or intramuscularly before transitioning to oral artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT).

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage must be determined by a healthcare provider. For severe malaria, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends intravenous or intramuscular administration. Children weighing less than 20 kg should receive a higher relative dose (3 mg/kg per dose) compared to larger children and adults (2.4 mg/kg per dose).
