Nix

Nix is an over-the-counter topical medication containing 1% permethrin. It is used to treat head lice infestations by acting as a neurotoxin that paralyzes and kills the lice and their eggs.

Dosage by Body Weight

Wash hair with a conditioner-free shampoo, rinse, and towel dry. Apply Nix to thoroughly saturate the hair and scalp (usually 1/2 to 1 bottle), especially behind the ears and at the back of the neck. Leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use a fine-tooth nit comb to remove dead lice and eggs. A second treatment may be required after 7 to 10 days if live lice are detected.
