Heptovir
Heptovir containing Lamivudine is a nucleoside analogue antiviral medication used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. It works by inhibiting viral DNA synthesis, thereby decreasing viral replication and lowering the risk of liver damage and complications associated with chronic HBV infection.
Dosage by Body Weight
The standard adult dose is 100 mg once daily, taken orally with or without food. Pediatric dosage (ages 2 to 17) is typically 3 mg/kg once daily, up to a maximum of 100 mg daily. Dosage must be adjusted for patients with renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 50 mL/min). Regular monitoring of liver function and viral load is essential during and after treatment. Do not stop taking this medication abruptly, as severe acute exacerbations of hepatitis may occur.
