Hectorol

Hectorol (doxercalciferol) is a synthetic vitamin D2 analog. It undergoes metabolic activation in the body to form 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D2, an active hormone that helps regulate calcium and phosphorus metabolism, thereby reducing elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels associated with chronic kidney disease.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage must be highly individualized based on serum calcium, phosphorus, and intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) levels. For adult patients on dialysis, the typical starting dose is 10 mcg orally three times weekly (every other day) or 4 mcg intravenously three times weekly. For adult patients with Stage 3 or 4 CKD, the starting dose is 1 mcg orally daily.
