Glucophage

Glucophage is a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent used to treat type 2 diabetes. It helps lower blood glucose levels by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity.

Dosage by Body Weight

Adult starting dose is typically 500 mg orally twice daily or 850 mg once daily, taken with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Dosage may be increased gradually. Maximum recommended daily dose is 2550 mg.
