Prednisolone Acetate and Gentamicin Sulfate
Prednisolone acetate and Gentamicin sulfate is a combination ophthalmic medication containing a corticosteroid (prednisolone) to reduce swelling, redness, and inflammation, and an aminoglycoside antibiotic (gentamicin) to inhibit the growth of susceptible bacteria in the eye.
Dosage by Body Weight
For the ophthalmic suspension: Instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) 2 to 4 times daily. During the initial 24 to 48 hours, the dosage may be safely increased to 1 drop every hour. For the ophthalmic ointment: Apply a small amount (approximately 1/2 inch ribbon) in the conjunctival sac 1 to 3 times daily. Do not discontinue therapy prematurely.
