Flovent
Flovent is a prescription preventative asthma medication containing fluticasone propionate. It belongs to the class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It is designed to be used regularly every day to manage and control asthma symptoms. Flovent is a controller medication and will not stop an asthma attack once it has started; a quick-relief rescue inhaler (such as albuterol) must be used for acute symptoms.
Dosage by Body Weight
Flovent is typically administered as two inhalations twice daily. Dosage is determined by a doctor based on patient age, asthma severity, and clinical response rather than body weight. Patients must rinse their mouth with water and spit it out after each use to prevent oral candidiasis (thrush).
