Asmanex

Asmanex (mometasone furoate) is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) designed for the daily prevention and control of asthma symptoms. It works by reducing swelling and inflammation in the airways, making breathing easier over time. It is a controller medication and is not intended to treat sudden, acute asthma attacks (bronchospasm).

Dosage by Body Weight

Administered via oral inhalation. Dosing is determined by age, asthma severity, and previous asthma therapy, rather than body weight. To prevent oral thrush (candidiasis), patients must rinse their mouth thoroughly with water and spit it out after each inhalation. Typical pediatric dose (ages 4-11) is 110 mcg once daily. Typical adolescent/adult dose (ages 12+) is 220 mcg to 440 mcg daily.
