Exifine
Exifine is an antifungal medication containing Terbinafine, which belongs to the allylamine class of antifungals. It works by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, thereby disrupting the synthesis of ergosterol (an essential component of fungal cell membranes), leading to fungal cell death. It is highly effective against dermatophytes, molds, and certain yeasts.
Dosage by Body Weight
For adults, the standard oral dose is 250 mg once daily. The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the infection (usually 2 to 4 weeks for skin infections, 6 weeks for fingernail infections, and 12 weeks for toenail infections). For pediatric patients over 2 years of age, dosage is determined by body weight.
