Diprivan

Diprivan (propofol) is an intravenous sedative-hypnotic agent characterized by a rapid onset and a short duration of action. It is used to induce and maintain general anesthesia and to provide sedation in clinical and intensive care environments.

Dosage by Body Weight

Diprivan must only be administered by trained anesthesia providers or clinicians experienced in intensive care. Dosage must be strictly individualized based on clinical response, age, body weight, and patient comorbidities. Typical adult induction doses range from 2 to 2.5 mg/kg IV, followed by continuous infusion for maintenance.
