Dimeticone

Dimeticone (dimethicone) is a silicone-based substance. Orally, it acts as an antifoaming agent that disperses gas bubbles trapped in the GI tract, making them easier to pass. Topically, it forms a protective barrier on the skin or suffocates head lice physically.

Dosage by Body Weight

For infant colic, the standard dose is usually 0.5 ml to 1 ml of oral suspension given before each feed. For adults, chewable tablets or liquids are taken after meals and at bedtime. Topical application should be applied to the affected skin area as needed.
