Domperidone (Lactation Support)
Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist. While primarily used as an antiemetic and prokinetic agent, it blocks dopamine receptors in the pituitary gland, leading to an increase in prolactin release, which stimulates breast milk production. Its use for lactation is off-label and must be carefully monitored due to potential risks of cardiac arrhythmias and QT prolongation.

For lactation stimulation, the typical adult maternal dosage is 10 mg orally three times daily. In some clinical settings, under close medical supervision, this may be increased to 20 mg three times daily. This medication is taken by the mother, not administered to the infant.
