Azasan

Azasan (azathioprine) is an immunosuppressive antimetabolite. It works by suppressing the body's immune system, which helps prevent transplant rejection and reduces the inflammation, joint pain, and swelling associated with severe rheumatoid arthritis.

Dosage by Body Weight

Azasan dosage is highly individualized and typically calculated based on body weight. For kidney transplant, starting doses are usually 3 to 5 mg/kg daily. For rheumatoid arthritis, the starting dose is approximately 1 mg/kg daily, which may be increased if needed. Frequent blood counts are necessary to monitor for toxicity.
