Alogliptin

Alogliptin is an oral anti-diabetic medication belonging to the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor class. It works by increasing the levels of active incretin hormones, which stimulate insulin release in response to meals and decrease glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.

Dosage by Body Weight

The standard adult dose is 25 mg taken orally once daily, with or without food. Dosage adjustments are required for patients with moderate to severe renal impairment (12.5 mg once daily for moderate renal impairment, and 6.25 mg once daily for severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease). It is not indicated for pediatric use.
