Versed
Versed (midazolam) is a short-acting benzodiazepine central nervous system (CNS) depressant. It interacts with the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-A receptor complex in the brain to produce sedative, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant effects.
Dosage by Body Weight
Dosage must be individualized. For pediatric patients, oral administration of midazolam hydrochloride syrup is typically dosed at 0.25 to 0.5 mg/kg depending on clinical setting and desired depth of sedation, up to a maximum single dose of 20 mg. It must only be administered under the supervision of a healthcare provider with access to resuscitation equipment.
