A prodrug that is converted to acyclovir in the body. It has better absorption, allowing for less frequent dosing than acyclovir.

Dosage by Body Weight

For chickenpox (ages 2-18): 20 mg/kg three times daily for 5 days. Max 1000 mg per dose.
