Toradol

Toradol is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the short-term (up to 5 days) management of moderately severe acute pain that requires analgesia at the opioid level. It works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. It is not indicated for minor or chronic pain due to a high risk of serious adverse effects, including gastrointestinal bleeding, renal failure, and increased bleeding risk.

Dosage by Body Weight

The maximum combined duration of treatment (parenteral and oral) is 5 days. Oral Toradol is only indicated as continuation therapy following initial parenteral (IV or IM) dosing. The typical adult oral dose is 10 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed, with a maximum of 40 mg per day. Dosage must be reduced for patients over 65 years of age, those under 50 kg (110 lbs), or those with renal impairment.
