Sodium Bicarbonate (Pediatric)

An alkalizing agent that increases blood and urine pH. In infants, the 4.2% concentration is used to reduce the risk of brain bleeding associated with the 8.4% adult form.

Dosage by Body Weight

Pediatric dose: 1-2 mEq/kg per dose. Requires blood gas monitoring.
