Rivaroxaban
Rivaroxaban is a highly selective, direct factor Xa inhibitor. By blocking factor Xa, it decreases thrombin generation and reduces the risk of blood clot formation. It is commonly prescribed for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation, treatment and prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), and cardiovascular risk reduction in coronary or peripheral artery disease.
Dosage by Body Weight
Dosage is highly dependent on the condition being treated, age, and renal function. Adults typically take 10 mg, 15 mg, or 20 mg once or twice daily. Doses of 15 mg and 20 mg must be taken with food to ensure optimal absorption. Pediatric dosing is weight-based and typically uses the oral suspension formulation under specialist supervision.
