Renagel

Renagel (sevelamer hydrochloride) is a non-calcium, non-metal phosphate binder. It is used to treat hyperphosphatemia (high blood phosphorus levels) in adults with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis. By binding dietary phosphorus in the gastrointestinal tract, it reduces phosphorus absorption into the bloodstream.

Dosage by Body Weight

Must be taken orally three times daily with meals. The initial dose typically ranges from 800 mg to 1600 mg per meal, depending on baseline serum phosphorus levels. Tablets must be swallowed whole; do not chew, crush, or break.
