Remimazolam

Remimazolam is an ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotic. It binds to GABA-A receptors in the central nervous system to produce sedative effects. It is rapidly metabolized by tissue esterases, leading to a quick onset and predictable, fast recovery time.

Dosage by Body Weight

For procedural sedation in adults, the standard initial dose is 5 mg administered intravenously over a 1-minute period. Supplemental doses of 2.5 mg IV over 15 seconds may be given after at least 2 minutes if necessary. It must only be administered by trained healthcare professionals in a monitored setting.
