Mitomycin (for Bladder Cancer)

Mitomycin is an alkylating antitumor antibiotic. When used for bladder cancer, it is administered directly into the bladder via a catheter (intravesical instillation). This localized delivery maximizes the exposure of the tumor cells to the drug while minimizing systemic side effects.

Dosage by Body Weight

The typical adult dose is 20 mg to 40 mg instilled intravesically once weekly for 6 to 8 weeks. The solution should be retained in the bladder for 1 to 2 hours before voiding. Dosage is not calculated by body weight.
