Lurasidone Hydrochloride
Lurasidone Hydrochloride is an atypical antipsychotic. Its efficacy is thought to be mediated through a combination of central dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptor antagonism. It must be taken with food (at least 350 calories) to ensure adequate bioavailability and absorption.
Dosage by Body Weight
Take orally once daily with food (at least 350 calories). For schizophrenia, the standard starting dose is 40 mg once daily, with a maximum recommended dose of 160 mg daily. For bipolar depression, the starting dose is 20 mg once daily, with a maximum recommended dose of 120 mg daily. Dosage adjustments are required for patients with moderate to severe renal or hepatic impairment, or when co-administered with moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers.
