Lumartem
Lumartem is an artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) containing artemether and lumefantrine. Artemether rapidly clears the malaria parasites from the blood, providing quick symptomatic relief, while lumefantrine acts more slowly to eliminate any remaining parasites and prevent a recurrence of the infection.
Dosage by Body Weight
Lumartem must be taken with food, particularly meals rich in fat or milk, to ensure proper absorption of lumefantrine. A standard treatment course consists of a 3-day regimen with a total of 6 doses: the first dose immediately, the second dose 8 hours later, and then twice daily (morning and evening) for the next 2 days.
